General Paloméros was accompanied by his Political Advisor, Ambassador Karen Stewart and his Scientific Advisor, Colonel Thierry Belloeil. This was the first visit by a Commander, Allied Command Transformation since the Centre transitioned from Allied Command Transformation (ACT) to the new Science and Technology Organization (STO) in 2012 as a result of the NATO Agencies Reform.
General Paloméros was welcomed by Rear Admiral (Ret.) Hank Ort, Director of CMRE, who led the tour of the Centre's facilities including the Maritime Tactical Theatre Simulator, the Glider Command and Control Room, the Engineering Laboratories and the NATO Research Vessel Alliance. General Paloméros met CMRE scientists and engineers and urged them to keep the focus on delivering transformative science and engineering for the benefit of the Nations of NATO. CMRE and ACT, as the preeminent customer in the new CMRE business model, are partnering in the development of new maritime game-changing capabilities.
SACT visit was preceded by a visit of Lieutenant General Phil Jones, ACT Chief of Staff, who toured CMRE on 27 August to bolster ties between the two NATO bodies.
