Working on unmanned Search and Rescue devices to speed up the SAR process

From 15 to 19 July 2013 CMRE hosted one of the 2013 sea trials of ICARUS, EC project aiming to develop robotic tools which can assist "human" crisis intervention teams.

The University of Cambridge wins SAUC-Europe ‘13 at CMRE

The team's AUV named "Barracuda" obtained the highest score performing a number of mission tasks in 8th edition of the Autonomous Underwater Vehicles challenge for university students. The 2nd prize went to the University of the West England while the University of Florence   took home the 3rd prize.

CMRE, serving NATO and the NATO Nations

When the NATO Undersea Research Centre (NURC) was decommissioned and the new STO Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation was established on 1 July 2012, it wasn't just a name change. The NATO Secretary General marks the one year anniversary of the STO in a video, as the culmination of the S&T Reform component of NATO’s Agency Reform begun in 2011.

CMRE Hydrophone Technology Used in Undersea Neutrino Telescope

The Centre participated in the KM3NeT project, which involved the recent installation of the first 400-meter tall underwater neutrino observation system at depth of 3500 meters off the coast of Sicily.

NRV Alliance Rescues a Yacht in the Ligurian Sea

Yacht on fireOn Monday 1st August 2011, at 8.40 AM, the NATO Research Vessel Alliance came to the rescue of an 18 metre pleasure craft in Italian waters, near the port of Savona in the Ligurian Sea.
